Downtown Comics To Open in Downtown in November

Downtown McMinnville continues to buck economic trends by attracting destination businesses with unique offerings that one can't find at discounts stores or chains.  One such business, Heroes Ink, is relocating to 203 East Main Street by the beginning of November with a new name "Downtown Comics" and plans to renovate the upstairs for a residence.

Garner Loudermilk, owner of Heroes Ink, recently purchased the downtown building and has wasted no time in beginning his renovations to get the store in place before the holiday season.  Loudermilk has created a destination that attracts youth and adults from not only Warren County, but all over the region.  Whether you are a serious collector of comics or a casual reader that doesn't want to miss an issue, the store offers a comic book subscription service.  Heroes Ink is not just a comic book store, but offer magna, Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi Ho!, Vs System, and World of Warcraft card games.  The store also offers many table-top games such as Heroclix, Warhammer Fantasy, and Warhammer 40k.  The store is often packed with people playing the games with each other for fun and in competitions held throughout the year."I am really looking forward to being a part of downtown McMinnville. It has really changed over the past several years and the businesses here are a great compliment to my shop," says Loudermilk.

Loudermilk is a native of Warren County, but moved away after high school.  After living in larger urban areas such as Los Angeles he always longed to be back in his home town where people were genuine and friendly.  That opportunity came along about three years ago when he decided to see if he could make a business in McMinnville.  His business continues to blossom and attract new followers with each passing year.  Loudermilk always wanted to buy building downtown.  He loved the idea of living above his store like they used to do when businesses were first established in downtowns. In addition to his plans to renovate the upstairs into residential, he would also like to return the facade to its historic glory some day. "We are fortunate to have attracted Downtown Comics.  Downtown continues to offer value not only to the customer, but investors as well," said Chris Wilson, Director of Main Street McMinnville.
