The newest downtown restaurant, City Café, is now open at 201 East Main Street. The cafe is a return to the days when City Drug Store had a cafe as a part of the pharmacy.
Junior and Penny Medley purchased the building earlier this year and immediately set forth with plans to reopen the diner. Having plenty of restaurant experience both from his own restaurant and family, Medley set out to expand the classic location. The seating in the new space was increased from about 25 to more than 75 with the addition of new booths and tables. Two new restrooms and a prep kitchen and storage were added in the rear. New colors and better lighting compliment the chrome fixtures.
The menu features classic burgers, fries and hand-dipped ice cream treats just like the original menu, but Mr. Medley also added more variety with a fresh new salad bar and soups.
